SCOTTI is a new trend in high through put laboratories that enables them to optimize the chain of custody and audit trail control. The SCOTTI based products are the first electronically controlled storing, transferring and retrieval system that uses Smart Chip Technology (SCT) to retain information about samples. The SCT utilizes radio frequencies (RF) to input information about the sample into a Smart Chip (SC) that is located on the sample container and provides tracking of the sample during sample preparation.

SCOTTI is a fully scalable system with the information stored in the SC could be as detailed as a standard operating procedure (SOP) or as simple as a replacement for bar coding. SCOTTI allows the user to collect and store data about their samples, from collection to analysis, establishing a complete chain of custody or audit trails. SCOTTI can also be interfaced into most LIMS systems.

When utilised with fully compatible chromatographic systems, such as the Agilent GC; LCs or GC/MS / LC/MS products, SCOTTI can include in the programming the method that must be run on the sample removing the need for even a sequence table to be created, allowing for the flexible rearrangement of samples to satisfy customer deadlines without risk of sample mis-identification.
